The Scalp Care Clinic Vs Your GP Or Trichologist: What’s The Difference?

Your GP

Your GP is your first port of call if you suspect a medical condition. Hair loss that is sudden or rapid, scalp issues that are painful, weeping, or spreading, or anything that is accompanied by other symptoms like fatigue or weight changes should be assessed by a doctor.

Your GP can run blood tests, check for underlying conditions like thyroid issues or iron deficiency. They may also prescribe medication where

appropriate.

If your concern is medical, please see your GP first. We will always tell you if we think you need medical

input before or

alongside our

treatments.

A Trichologist

A trichologist specialises in hair and scalp health, and this is exactly who you want when you need a diagnosis. They will examine your scalp, identify what is going on, and usually recommend some shampoos or products

to help.

For many people, though, the journey ends there. A diagnosis, a product recommendation, and off you go. There is often no ongoing treatment plan, no one actually treating the condition with you week after week.

We work with trichologists rather than competing with them. If your scalp analysis shows us something that needs a proper diagnosis, we will refer you to a trichologist and support you alongside whatever they advise. Diagnosis is their strength. Treatment is ours.

The Scalp Care Clinic

So Where Do We Fit In?

We fill the gap that has always existed. In the past, if something was wrong with your scalp, you did not really know where to turn. Your GP could look but could not diagnose the scalp. A trichologist could diagnose, but your journey often ended with the diagnosis. What was missing was somewhere to actually do something about it.

That is us. When we look at your scalp, it is not the end of an investigation. It is the start of your journey. We sit alongside medical care, not instead of it. Think of us as the wellness and maintenance side of scalp and hair health.

Here Is What We Do:

☑ We analyse your scalp using digital magnification to assess the health of your follicles and scalp.

☑ We identify imbalances, buildup, and signs of concern that may be affecting your hair.

☑ We create a personalised treatment plan using advanced technologies like oxygen infusion therapy, cold plasma, red light therapy, and Japanese scalp therapy and homecare products.

☑ We support the health of your scalp to create the best possible environment for your hair.

☑ We educate you on how to look after your scalp at home.

Here Is What We Do Not Do:

✕ We do not diagnose medical

conditions.

✕ We do not prescribe

medication.

✕ We do not treat medical conditions that require clinical

intervention.

✕ We do not promise guaranteed results or claim that we can regrow hair.

✕ We do not replace your GP, dermatologist, or

other medical professional when

medical care is needed.

How We Work With Medical Professionals

If your scalp analysis reveals something that we believe needs medical attention, we will tell you. We will recommend you see your GP or a dermatologist, and we will share our findings to help them understand what we have observed.

We can also work alongside medical treatment. If you are seeing a GP or dermatologist for a diagnosed condition, we can support your scalp health between appointments, always in consultation with your medical team.

Which One Is Right For You?

If you have a medical concern, start with your GP. If you want to understand the health of your scalp and take a proactive approach to improving it, come to us, we will let you know if you need a diagnosis and refer you to a Trichologist.

Many of our clients see us first, then go to their GP if needed. Some come to us after seeing their GP and want additional support. Both are perfectly fine.
