Thinking about your scalp health often raises more questions than it answers. That is completely normal, and it is exactly why we are open about what we do, what we do not do, and what you can expect from us. Here are the questions we hear most, answered simply and honestly.
Ready to understand your scalp?
Book a consultation with our specialists and discover the right approach for your hair and scalp needs.
A: A dedicated scalp health clinic, created to treat the concerns that sit beneath the hair:
flaking, itching, dryness, oiliness, buildup, tension, thinning and hair loss. Everything we do
starts with a proper look at your scalp using digital magnification, so our advice is based on
what we can actually see, not guesswork. We are located alongside the Terri Gilham Hair
Spa, but scalp care is our whole focus.
A: A salon looks after your hair. We look after the skin it grows from. Your stylist can spot
concerns and will always point you our way if they do, but a salon appointment is not the
place for a full scalp investigation. Here, the consultation, the analysis technology and the
treatments are all built around one thing: understanding and improving your scalp health.
Many clients use both, your hair appointments at the spa and your scalp care here.
A: Book a scalp analysis consultation. It is the simplest way to find out, and there is no
obligation to continue with treatment afterwards. We would rather tell you honestly that
you do not need us than sell you something you do not.
A: We sit down with you first to hear your history, your concerns and what you have already
tried. Then we use digital scalp analysis to look at your scalp at high magnification, so
together we can see what is happening on the surface and at the follicle. We explain what
we find in plain English, and talk through what could help and what results would be
realistic for you. You leave with a clear picture and a plan, whatever you decide to do next.
A: Yes, always. Some scalp conditions and causes of hair loss need medical care first, and we
will say so plainly if that applies to you. We are not here to replace your GP, a
dermatologist or a trichologist, we complement them. Nothing matters to us more than
you getting the right care from the right person, even when that person is not us.

A: The concerns we see most are itchy or flaky scalp, dryness, oiliness, product buildup, scalp
tension, redness and irritation, thinning hair and early to moderate hair loss. The first step
for every one of them is the same: see the scalp clearly with digital analysis, then tailor the
treatment to what is actually there.
A: For many people, yes, and the earlier we look the better the options usually are. Our
treatments are designed to support the scalp environment your follicles need to do their
best work. What we will never do is promise regrowth or sell you false hope. Some types of
hair loss need medical care, and if that is you, we will tell you.
A: Your plan is built from the technologies that suit your scalp, which may include scalp
treatments, oxygen infusion therapy, cold plasma, red light therapy, exosome hair
restoration and Japanese scalp therapy. It sounds more complicated than it is. Each one is a
gentle, comfortable treatment, and we explain exactly what it does and why we are
recommending it before anything happens.
A: Yes. These are non-invasive, gentle treatments, most clients find them deeply relaxing, and
many book them as much for the hour of quiet as for the results.
A: Scalp and hair changes take time and consistency. Some concerns like irritation and flaking
often settle within a few treatments; thinning and hair loss are measured in months, not
weeks, because that is how hair grows. We will always give you an honest picture of what
is realistic rather than a promise we cannot keep.
A: Yes, we stock the professional home care we are happy to put our name to, so what you
use between visits matches what we do in the clinic. If you need a top up of any products
you can order them online if it is easier for you. https://www.thescalpcareclinic.co.uk/shop
A: The Japanese Head Spa is a beautiful, deeply relaxing scalp therapy experience, part of our
spa menu. It is genuinely good for your scalp too: it helps clear away product buildup and
small flakes, and the massage and water therapy stimulate the scalp to support healthy
hair growth. We recommend one a month for the health of your hair and scalp. And plenty
of clients book it purely for the relaxation, it is a lovely all-over wellbeing treat and a
wonderful way to switch off from the world for an hour.
If you have an actual scalp or hair concern, we also offer targeted Japanese Head Spas
designed for these. You are welcome to choose one yourself, but we do recommend sitting
with our advice first, so the treatment you have matches what is actually going on. That is
exactly what your scalp analysis tells us. Clinic treatments themselves are targeted care
for a specific concern, planned from your analysis, appointment after appointment.
Many clients love both: the clinic work to improve the scalp, the head spa to relax and
maintain. If in doubt, start with the analysis and we will point you the right way.
A: Absolutely. Most of our clients continue their colour and cutting appointments at the hair
spa alongside their scalp care here. The two work well together, and your stylist will be
delighted you are looking after the roots as well as the hair.
